HarperCollins Publishers
Senior Designer, Morrow Group · 2023–Present
490+ campaigns across 280+ titles. Amazon A+ pages, animated DSP ads, social, print, and eblasts for William Morrow, Avon, and Harper Voyager — some of the biggest titles in publishing.
The role
I joined HarperCollins as a Designer in the Morrow Group marketing department and was promoted to Senior Designer in 2024. The job is production design at scale: high volume, tight deadlines, and major IP. I work directly with Marketing Directors on individual title campaigns, from brief to delivery, tracked in Airtable.
The bulk of the work is Amazon A+ content and DSP display advertising — the assets that live on product pages and follow readers around the internet when a new book launches. I also design social media graphics, email blasts, print mailers, in-store signage, and video assets. For Collector's and Deluxe Editions, the work becomes more involved: crafting a visual system that communicates the premium nature of the product and justifies the price point.
Scale: 490+ completed projects across 280+ titles in 2025 alone. Notable campaigns include Bridgerton Collector's Editions (Netflix tie-in), Elphie (Wicked film launch), The Hurricane Wars, Babel, and The Poppy War.
What Amazon A+ design actually is
A+ content is the rich media that replaces the blank white space below a book's description on Amazon. Done well, it converts browsers into buyers — it's the last thing a reader sees before they click "Add to Cart." Done poorly, it's wallpaper.
Each module has fixed dimensions, strict file size limits, and no interactive elements. The design challenge is communicating a book's tone, genre, and value proposition in a series of static banners, often without being able to show the full cover at high resolution. For Collector's Editions, I'm also selling the physical object — the sprayed edges, the foil stamping, the ribbon bookmark — so the design has to show those details clearly enough that someone will pay $40 for a book they could buy for $15.
Bridgerton Collector's Editions

Elphie: A Wicked Childhood

The Hurricane Wars
Deluxe Collector's Edition launch for Thea Guanzon's NYT bestselling fantasy trilogy. Full A+ page with comparison modules and animated DSP campaign.

Babel: An Arcane History — Collector's Edition
Campaign for R.F. Kuang's award-winning novel in a new collector's edition with gold foil, faux-leather case, and Nico Delort illustrations.

Campaign variety
A cross-section of the broader campaign work — romance, fantasy, thriller, and literary fiction across William Morrow, Avon, and Harper Voyager imprints.

Animated DSP campaigns
For major launches, the campaign extends to Amazon DSP — animated display ads in 300x250, 300x600, and 970x250 formats that run across Amazon's publisher network. I design these as looping GIFs (under 150KB per Amazon's limit), typically with a book reveal or a text animation that drives toward a “Read Now” CTA. The Bridgerton, Elphie, Hurricane Wars, and Babel campaigns all included animated DSP alongside the A+ work.
What I've learned from 490 campaigns
Publishing moves fast and the titles are wildly varied — one week it's a dark fantasy trilogy relaunch, the next it's a cozy holiday romance. The skill isn't just execution speed; it's reading the book's existing brand (cover art, typography, color palette) and extending it into formats the cover designer never considered.
The work that I'm most proud of is the Collector's and Deluxe Edition campaigns. These aren't reprint launches — they're product launches with a marketing problem: convince readers who already own the book to buy it again. That requires the design to earn its keep.
